Board of Directors

In 2013 WMBA of COS brought a new board of directors on board (see photo below). We’ve gone through a year and in 2014 welcomed one new board member to replace Laurien Moes who resigned due to new employment ventures. We’d like to welcome Jessica Verplank to the board and will update this page when we get a photo of her.

This is a very exciting time for WMBA and the mountain biking community, bringing fresh faces and new ideas to an organization which has been wildly successful past anyone’s imagination. Please welcome your board members:

What is your role on the board: I am on the event planning committee.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I am looking forward to helping WMBA move forward with a great new group of awesome women. I am also looking forward to our rides and getting to meet new members.
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I started tap dance lessons a year ago!

What is your role on the board: Acting as the Treasurer on the WMBA Board of Directors, I will be responsible for creating a
budget for WMBA member activities and race team requirements; monitoring expenditures; and preparing any formal filings required for the organization.

What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I will be excited to see the new dynamics for the organization take shape and of course, look forward to hitting the trails with all of the women!
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I started taking dance lessons in ballet, tap and jazz as an adult and have been involved for about 15 years, on and off. I enjoyed performing at a yearly recital at the Pikes Peak Center in costume and makeup! My passion is classical ballet. As far as hobbies go, I would consider myself slightly better at dance than I am at mountain biking, but my free time is now dedicated to mostly biking and running!

What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I’m excited to encourage new, scared riders and see the excitement in their eyes and joy in their voices of accomplishing something they never thought possible.
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I used to sing bass in a barbershop group and baritone in a barbershop quartet.

What is your role on the board: I am club team director, co-leader of group rides and vice-chair of the board.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I am excited to see the group rides continue to evolve and grow.  I am also looking forward to my second race season (hopefully) on the club team.  Last year was my first year and I had some successes, some “teaching points” and some all out bombs, but all in all it was a great year.  I’m looking forward to making 2013 more focused and purposeful as I build my racing experience base.
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I was a cheerleader once.  Just once though ;-)

As WMBA welcomed a new board into service at the end of 2012 the previous board members have accepted a role as honorary directors. We are very excited that they have chosen to still be involved and available to the new board.

What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I am excited to watch WMBA grow and prosper under the passion and inspiration of new leadership.
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I am very squeamish when it comes to blood and guts. I can’t even stand to listen to someone talk about a wound or surgery. Yuck!

Tell us something no one would guess about you: When I was fifteen, our family had a wild kingdom: two horses, a donkey, an iguana, a ferret, a dog, and a few cats.
