This year is going to be awesome and an exciting time for WMBA and the mountain biking community, bringing fresh faces and new ideas to an organization which has been wildly successful past anyone's imagination. Please welcome your board members:
Brenda Malmberg - Treasurer
What is your role on the board: As the Treasurer on the WMBA Board of Directors, I am responsible for creating a budget for WMBA member activities and race team requirements; monitoring expenditures; and preparing any formal filings required for the organization.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I will be excited to see the new dynamics for the organization take shape and of course, look forward to hitting the trails with all of the women!
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I started taking dance lessons in ballet, tap and jazz as an adult and have been involved for about 15 years, on and off. I enjoyed performing at a yearly recital at the Pikes Peak Center in costume and makeup! My passion is classical ballet. As far as hobbies go, I would consider myself slightly better at dance than I am at mountain biking, but my free time is now dedicated to mostly biking and running!
Shana Biese - Board Chair
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I am most excited about spending time with other women who are passionate about riding bikes! And I am excited about growing as a rider, and learning so much from everyone!!!
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I am a former singer. Sang opera in college, and in the right circumstances I will sing again. :o)
Sarah Walter - Vice Chair
What is your role on the board: Sponsorship's, Events Committee, Race Team director, kit design, t shirt design and much more.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: To witness this inspiring group of women progress in mountain biking, to be a part of this sport growing among women, and to see the relationships that flower because of this community.
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I have this weird ... phobia?... of holes called trypophobia. Wikipedia defines it as the "pathological fear of objects with irregular patterns of holes, such as beehives, ant hills and lotus seed heads." When I see patterns of holes, usually in nature, it causes my skin to crawl and I get very uncomfortable. I never understood why these things bothered me until I saw an article on it a few years ago and realized I wasn't the only one!
Sherri Woods - Secretary
What is your role on the board: As a three-year member of WMBA I'm proud to be the secretary of the board, group ride committee.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I'm excited to encourage new, scared riders and see the excitement in their eyes and joy in their voices of accomplishing something they never thought possible.
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I used to sing bass in a barbershop group and baritone in a barbershop quartet.
What is your role on the board: Many of my skills lie in communication and social media so I will be working on the newsletter, Twitter and other forms of digitally interacting with our members.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season: I’m excited to get in on more of the group rides and up my climbing and technical skills with an amazing group of badass women!
Tell us something no one would guess about you: I’ve always wanted to be in a rock band, which explains my ridiculous love of karaoke.
